Background

A lady I met at church asked if I could help out with a project she was working on. She was going through the Bible making up lesson plans and activities for a big inner-city after-school teaching project. But she had no songs to accompany the lesson plans except those already in eminent domain. I said, "Sure!"

Later that day she gave me the scriptures and stories she was currently working on and asked me to do a test project of putting a few of the scriptures into songs. The lessons she was working on were related to Moses (track 1), Joshua (track 2-4), Gideon (track 5), David (track 6), and Samson. Within 5 days I had composed 7 songs ready to demo, six of which are on this album. Everyone who heard these songs loved them from the start. Unfortunately no one followed through with any financial support, so our ambitious project nearly came to an end right there.

Inspiration

I had a dream wherein I was told that I should continue the project, as it was of the Holy Spirit. I would be given scripturally based songs that would be for children everywhere, regardless of denomination. And I was to keep it scripturally pure, without changing The Word to fit any particular tradition. I got the title soon after: The Bible in Song for Children. When the project is completed, it will include Genesis to Revelation's major heroes and heroines, many of the Proverbs, many of the Psalms, Jesus' life, and Jesus' teachings. I have over 70 songs composed and ready for production.
