I Come in the Name of the Lord

(I Samuel 17:35)
Goliath was a giant man, over nine feet tall.
He came in his own great strength, yet mighty was his fall.
For teen-age David came to him with only five smooth stones.
But David came in God's strength and not in his own.
- Chorus:
- I come in the name of The Lord. I come in the name of The Lord.
- You come with a mighty sword, but I come in the name of The Lord!
From when he was a little boy, David tended sheep.
Caring for his father’s flocks, even in his sleep.
And in that job young David learned to trust in God's strong arm.
For alone he killed a lion and bear and kept the sheep from harm. (chorus)
Goliath shook the earth as he ran, intent upon the kill.
As David chose two small smooth stones, God's will to fulfill.
He cried as he ran, "I come in the name of the God of Israel"
And slung a stone at that massive head and down the giant fell. (final chorus)
- Final Chorus:
- I come in the name of The Lord. I come in the name of The Lord.
- You come with a mighty sword, but I come in the name of The Lord!
-
- I come in the name of The Lord. I come in the name of The Lord.
- You come with a mighty sword, but I come in the name of The Lord!
- I come in the name of the Lord, I come in the name of our Lord.
