All I Want Is You (Wedding Duet)

Lyrics and Music by Rhoda Daniel, © 1991, 1995

Her: I need something new, something borrowed, something blue,
But all I want is you.
Him: You need something new, something borrowed, something blue,
But all need is you.
Her: I need something lucky like a penny for my shoe,
But all I want is you.
Him: You need something lucky like a penny for your shoe,
But all I need is you.
Chorus: Whom God has joined no one can part,
For from us two He's making one heart,
Forsaking all others til death do us part.
Her: I need something white as pure as the love I bring to you,
But all I want is you.
Him: You need something white as pure as the love I bring to you,
But all I need is you.
Her: I need something gold just for your finger, love's symbol true,
But all I want is you.
Him: Yes, we need something gold just for our fingers, love's symbol true,
But all I want is you.
(Chorus)
Her: I need something old do you think that love perhaps will do?
For all I want is you.
Him: You need something old, I think that love will surely do,
For all I want is you.
Both: For all I want is you.

Inspiration

Wedding Duet, All I Want Is You is not only a wedding song, but one that incorporates all the traditions we have come to associate with a wedding—something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue, lucky penny, rings, love that God puts together and that lasts as long as life itself, etc.

Acknowldgements

I want to thank both Robb Tripp and Walt Harrah for the wonderful job they both did to make this album a reality. I am grateful to you both; you are both gifted producers. And a special thank you to all the great musicians and arrangers who were a part of this project.

The original production under Robb Tripp in TN was titled: Country Christian and produced in the Nashville area with a live band of superb musicians. I could tell them what I was hearing for each song and they not only gave me what I asked, but way beyond as well.

Three songs were produced in CA with Walt Harrah. Besides being a producer, he is also a talented singer. I was delighted when he agreed to be the singer on both Fire Insurance (about accepting Jesus), and The Wolves Are Out (about the importance of judging by fruits). He was also my duet partner in 45 & Holding (about always putting God off). He's also particularly gifted at harmony. He could lay down 4 harmony tracks in succession without even one sour or missed note.
