Mary sat devoted while Martha sought to please.
Mary was enchanted and Martha ill at ease.
Mary was with Jesus, absorbing every word.
Martha scurried to and fro, but Mary never stirred.

Jesus said to Martha "You care for many things,
"Pleasing, serving, playing church, presidents and kings.

"Mary here has chosen it, the truth of God I share"

There've been many Marthas throughout the centuries past,
Forgetting as they'd scurry the things that truly last.
Today we're often burdened by many worldly cares,
